AFTER SCHOOL JOB
3 months in and I’ve already mastered this whole stock boy job. It’s easy enough. Video games go there, relocation software goes there, music goes over, and TVs get their own section. You memorize the store’s whole layout as you work each and every single day. At first, I got worried. I thought I’d never figure out where everything goes. There was just so much merchandise and sometimes I’d be the only one stocking shelves. I was always thinking I’d put the relocation software where I should be putting the video poker games or something. I like the pay. In fact, I like it a lot. It’s great for a college student, but I’m still in college. I don’t expect to be stocking shelves for the rest of my life. I’ll get my degree and move on, but for right now, this is great. I have the hours I want and I still have time to study. I can’t tell my bosses that. They love me. I show up every day on time and I never complain. It’s like I’m the son they always wanted. I think they’d even break down crying if I told I didn’t intend on working my way up the management ladder, but I’ll have to someday and I won’t regret it. That’s life. It’s about moving on.
